SUNDARIJAL “BEAUTIFUL WATER”

It was the same old Saturday, I was just lazing around doing nothing. After I freshened up and was about to doze off to my afternoon nap, I got a phone call from my friend. He was outside my house without any prior info waiting to take me to the famous waterfall in Shivapuri. A gush of wind hit my face as we were racing with the wind to reach our destination. Then we stopped to the point where our road let us go. Then was a long 5 hours hike to reach our destination. He huffed and we puffed struggling for a grasp of air and certain breather stop as we went on to slowly reach our destination.

Sundarijal which means “Beautiful water” is one of the famous destination for the valley people to enjoy and refresh themselves. The tiny village is the gateway to the Shivapuri National Park and along the popular Kathmandu Valley Trekking. Sundarijal is especially famous for the young local travellers for day hiking, swimming, picnic and bike riding.

The hike to the Sundarijal is straight uphill that may make difficulty for the hikers. One can hike up to the sundarijal hill the can continue for Chisapani. They may also march towards the Nagarkot then to Panauti through Dhulikhel. The route is very exciting for the and give you the sense of variant environment. The waterfall that you can view as well as experience bathing in it, is the most beautiful and you can have the great enjoyment. Another importance of the Sundarijal is its valuable water. It has religious belief as well. Many pilgrims bath here and carries water to pour on the statue of Pashupatinath. Every Shrawan the route is full with the pilgrims and we can see them rushing to fetch water and they enjoy every moments in worshipping God Mahadev with their favourite musics.

Knowing the importance of the water of Sundarijal, I was excited to reach for the Waterfall. Finally, the wondrous heaven of the waterfall welcomed us. We took a good bath and we played around. The wonderful trip finally ended with a strong feeling and belief that really Nepal is something valuable.
